Maintenance B reports directly to the Maintenance Manager with the primary responsibilities of assisting skilled maintenance staff in performing maintenance, repair and some construction activities. The Maintenance B will perform routine maintenance with little to no supervision.
Primary Responsibilities
- Comply with all Uni-Form Components Health, Safety, and Environmental policies and procedures.
- Demonstrates basic electrical knowledge sufficient to: troubleshoot blown fuses, tripped overloads, pushbuttons, limit switches, etc.
- Tests a variety of AC and DC circuits ranging from 12V to 480V, using a volt meter.
- Installs conduit, disconnects, contactors, and MCCs.
- Use mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot and repair power transmission systems including chains, sprockets, bearings, and gearboxes.
- Use mechanical knowledge to remove broken bolts, determine thread diameter and pitch and repair threads.
- Maintain and inspect all air lines, hoses and pipes ensuring no leaks providing safe working conditions.
- Maintains and inspects all rigging materials (chains, hooks, clamps etc.) in accordance with company’s safety regulations, and regulatory standards. Maintains color coding system and ensures all logs are current and up to date.
- Maintain and ensure safe operation of electrical cords, gas lines, oxygen lines, HVAC filters, and oven filters.
- Keep maintenance area clean and organized including parts storage area. Maintains inventory control of parts.
- Comply with the company housekeeping policies and standards to maintain a clean and orderly work station.
- Ability to meet all company quality standards.
- Ability to perform other duties assigned.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements
- Ability to perform tasks in a competent manner.
- Knowledge of and experience with operating standard hand and power tools used in mechanical electrical jobs.
- Basic understanding of hydraulic circuits including pumps, directional control valves, and cylinders.
- Is certified and demonstrates the ability to safely operate a lift truck.
- Is certified and demonstrates the ability to safely operate an Overhead Crane.
- Ability to read prints and drawings.
- Ability to work well with others including all levels of management.
- Must have excellent attendance and punctuality
- Ability to communicate effectively in English both orally and written.
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment with maintenance experience and exhibits willingness to learn.
- High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred, AAS in Automation Controls or related field preferred.
Working Conditions
- Tolerate working outside in severe conditions as well as exposure to high temperatures, noise, and dust.
- Able to walk, stand, stoop, kneel, bend at the waist, and reach for extended periods of time on a daily basis.
- Frequent lifting and/ or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 lbs. Lifting devices are available and recommended.
- Able to exceed a 40 hour week.
- Ability to wear proper PPE as required.
