Summary
The Burn Department reports directly to the shift Foreman with the primary responsibilities of burning steel plate of various sizes and thickness. NC Burners are required to operate CBC and Plasma Machine and know how to set up each machine. NC Burners must produce quality burn material with no slag or gouges. They will clean all non-complete material and identify all cut material and material returned to stock per company policies and procedures.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Comply with all Uni-Form Components Health, Safety, and Environmental policies and procedures.
- Comply with Uni-Form Components policies and procedures.
- Ability to make sure that Dish heads are at the proper radius.
- Burns and cuts steel according to job specs.
- Programs CNC Machine with steel material size to ensure proper burning.
- Ability to ensure all documentation is complete and accurate in a timely manner.
- Ability to read, interpret, and understand job cards.
- Ability to maintain and inspect equipment.
- Represent the company in a professional manner.
- Complies with company No-Smoking except in designated areas and no cell phone policy.
- Comply with company Housekeeping policies and standards to maintain a clean and orderly work station.
- Ability to meet all company quality standards.
- Ability to perform other duties assigned.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements
- Ability to perform tasks in a competent manner.
- Ability to operate CNC and Plasma Burning Machine.
- Is certified and demonstrates the ability to safely operate a lift truck up to 40,000 pound lifts capacity.
- Is certified and demonstrates the ability to safely operate and Overhead Crane.
- Ability to safely operate hand tools such as: grinder, hammer, wrench and pry bar.
- Accurately read a tape measure.
- Basic reading, writing, and mathematics skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English both orally and written.
- High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- Minimum 1 year experience in a manufacturing environment.
Working Conditions
- Tolerate working outside in severe conditions as well as exposure to high temperatures, noise, and dust.
- Able to walk, stand, stoop, kneel, bend at the waist, and reach for extended periods of time on a daily basis.
- Frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 lbs. Lifting devices are available and recommended.
- Able to exceed a 40 hour week.
- Ability to wear proper PPE as required.
